Your Story, Your Scenery: Portrait Photography Across Metro Vancouver
Based in the Tri-Cities, I offer dreamy, cinematic photography sessions across Metro Vancouver. Explore my service areas, from the urban heart of Vancouver to the rustic landscapes of the Fraser Valley, and let's find the perfect backdrop for your story.

As a photographer deeply inspired by storytelling and the beauty of British Columbia, one of the most common questions I receive is, "Where do you work?" While I call the Tri-Cities home, my passion for capturing genuine moments takes me all across Metro Vancouver. The location of your photoshoot is more than just a backdrop; it's the stage where your story unfolds. Choosing the right setting is a key part of creating images that feel authentically you. This guide walks you through my primary service areas and highlights some of my favourite spots to help you envision your own dreamy, cinematic portrait session.
The Heart of the Tri-Cities: Port Moody, Coquitlam, & Port Coquitlam
There's a special kind of magic in the Tri-Cities, where urban convenience meets untamed nature. This unique blend makes it an incredibly versatile area for photography. As a Coquitlam family photographer, I love exploring the diverse landscapes this region offers, from serene waterfronts to dense, mossy forests.
- Colony Farm Regional Park (Coquitlam): With its wide-open fields, winding pathways, and beautiful views of the Coquitlam River, Colony Farm is a dream location. The golden light during sunset here is simply spectacular, creating a warm, cinematic glow that is perfect for couples and family sessions. The rustic barns and tall grasses provide a timeless, natural feel.
- Minnekhada Regional Park (Coquitlam): For those who love a more dramatic, woodsy vibe, Minnekhada is a fantastic choice. The combination of the historic lodge, rocky lookouts, and tranquil marshland offers a variety of textures and moods. It’s an ideal spot for capturing intimate, moody portraits that feel connected to nature.
- Rocky Point Park (Port Moody): Offering a quintessential West Coast experience, Rocky Point combines shoreline, forest trails, and the iconic pier. It's a lively and beautiful location that works well for family sessions where kids can explore, or for couples wanting a relaxed, scenic setting by the water.
Urban Elegance & Coastal Charm: Vancouver & Burnaby
For clients seeking a more metropolitan or classically elegant backdrop, I frequently travel to Vancouver and Burnaby. These cities offer a different kind of energy, from the historic architecture of Gastown to the manicured gardens and stunning lakes that dot the landscape. A Burnaby portrait session can feel worlds away from the city bustle, even when it's just minutes from a SkyTrain station.
- Deer Lake Park (Burnaby): This is one of my all-time favourite locations. Deer Lake Park is a true gem, offering a picturesque lake, charming footbridges, a beautiful heritage village, and lush greenery. It’s incredibly versatile and provides a soft, romantic atmosphere that complements my photography style perfectly. It’s wonderful for everything from engagement photos to individual portraits.
- Gastown & Stanley Park (Vancouver): For iconic Vancouver couples photography, you can't go wrong with these two locations. Gastown’s historic brick buildings, cobblestone streets, and ambient lighting create a sophisticated, urban-chic feel. In contrast, Stanley Park provides a vast natural oasis with everything from dense forest and seawall views to the famous rose garden. We can easily combine locations to capture both the urban and natural sides of your story.
Scenic Vistas & Rustic Beauty: Pitt Meadows & Maple Ridge
The further east we venture into Pitt Meadows and Maple Ridge, the more the landscape opens up. This region is defined by its agricultural roots, vast dykes, and breathtaking mountain panoramas. If your vision for your photos includes sweeping vistas and a sense of peaceful seclusion, this is the area for you.
I love shooting here because the uninterrupted horizons and natural textures lend themselves beautifully to a cinematic style. A Pitt Meadows photo session at golden hour, with the mountains painted in alpenglow, is an unforgettable experience.
- Pitt Lake: The area around Pitt Lake offers some of the most dramatic scenery in Metro Vancouver. The scale of the mountains meeting the water is truly awe-inspiring. It's a perfect location for adventurous couples or families who want to capture the epic beauty of the Pacific Northwest in their photos.
- Local Farms & Dykes: The network of dykes in Pitt Meadows and the charming farms in Maple Ridge provide a rustic, pastoral setting that is ideal for warm and authentic family photos. The simplicity of the landscape allows the focus to remain on your connection and emotion.
Your photoshoot should be a reflection of who you are. Whether you see yourself laughing in a sun-drenched field, walking hand-in-hand through a historic neighbourhood, or embracing against a backdrop of majestic mountains, we can find the perfect location within Metro Vancouver. The pre-shoot planning process is designed to be relaxed and collaborative, ensuring we choose a setting that not only looks beautiful but also feels meaningful to you.

Frequently Asked Questions
Do you travel outside of Metro Vancouver for photoshoots?
Yes, I do! While my main service areas are within Metro Vancouver and the Fraser Valley, I love to travel and explore new locations. Sessions outside of this primary zone may be subject to a travel fee to cover time and transportation costs. Please contact me with your desired location, and I can provide you with a custom quote.
What if I don't know where to have my photos taken?
Not a problem at all! In fact, most clients are looking for guidance. Helping you choose the perfect location is a key part of my service. During our pre-shoot consultation, we'll chat about the vibe you're going for, the story you want to tell, and the types of scenery you're drawn to. Based on that, I'll suggest a few options that I think you'll love.
Are there extra fees for shooting in certain locations?
For most public locations like the parks mentioned, there are no additional fees from my end. However, some specific venues, private properties, or gardens (like VanDusen Botanical Garden, for example) may require admission tickets or a photography permit. Any such external fees would be the responsibility of the client.
Which areas do you recommend for classic fall photos?
The Tri-Cities and the Fraser Valley are absolutely stunning in the autumn. Locations like Minnekhada Regional Park in Coquitlam and the many trails in Maple Ridge offer incredible fall foliage. The golden fields and rustic textures of Colony Farm and Pitt Meadows also take on a special warmth during the fall season, making them perfect for cozy, cinematic photos.
